The early completion of a Chinese-built tunnel for water diversion in Nepal demonstrates the spirit of inclusive and win-win cooperation underlying the Belt and Road Initiative, a Chinese diplomat said.
The excavation of the 12-kilometer tunnel, which connects the Bheri and Babai rivers, was finished on Tuesday, nearly a year ahead of deadline.
The tunnel, which will transfer water from the Bheri River to the Babai River and provide irrigation for 51,000 hectares of farmland in central and western Nepal to alleviate food shortages, is a result of joint efforts by several countries.
