Licensed goods sales increase to $12.7b

Licensed merchandise sales in China reached 85.6 billion yuan ($12.7 billion) in 2018, up 14.6 percent, according to a report. By the end of 2018, 1,473 brands, from 32 countries and regions, had been licensed in China, up 42.7 percent year-on-year, according to the report issued by the China Toy and Juvenile Products Association. A total of 412 firms had carried out brand licensing business in China by the end of 2018, up 26 percent year-on-year, the report said. Many of the brands are related to movies and cartoons with products including toys, clothes, food, books and electronics.
