Regulator aims to reduce online video addiction

Cyberspace authorities have asked short-video platforms, including Douyin, Kuaishou and Huoshan, to pilot a system designed to prevent young users from becoming addicted to online videos. When logging into a short-video app for the first time every day, a user will receive a pop-up window that leads to a "teenager mode", which restricts access to content, duration of use and functions. The system will also experiment with an automatic shift to "teenager mode" after analyzing data such as location and user behavior.
