West meets East: A record of married life in China

A few years ago, many websites around the world picked up the story of a Chongqing couple who, at ages 98 and 97, reenacted many of the photographs they had taken together during their 70 years of marriage.

They had survived many things as a couple, including wars, difficult times and parenthood, and their photos were touching.

While my wife and I haven't been together nearly that long, we started something of a similar tradition. We have celebrated all wedding anniversaries in China, having arrived in May 2012, just over a month after our wedding.
