Farm produce prices up on weekly basis
Farm produce prices edged up slightly last week, official data showed on Tuesday. The overall price for farm produce edged up 0.3 percent from March 4 to March 10, compared with a 0.5-percent decline the previous week, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The average wholesale price of 30 types of vegetables went up by 0.2 percent. The wholesale price of pork went up by 2.3 percent and the price of eggs dropped by 2.1 percent from the previous week. Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index, which, as a main gauge of inflation, remained stable during the beginning of the year.
