Xia Boyu nominated for Laureus Sporting award

Xia Boyu has been named as one of 10 nominees for the Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year for his unswerving dedication to scaling Qomolangma, the world's highest mountain. Xia lost both legs to frostbite in 1975 during his first attempt to reach the summit. After four more attempts, Xia finally succeeded on May 14, becoming the first double amputee from China to reach the summit of the mountain, know in the West as Mount Everest. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Monaco on Feb 18.
