Inspirational teacher inspires rural students

A teacher who inspired the 46 students at her school to gain an all-around education has made the shortlist for the Ma Yun Rural Teacher Prize. Cai Mingjing, 25, has been an all-subjects teacher at Pengjiagou Primary School in Shiyan, an impoverished remote village in Hubei province, for four years. She has taught her students to surf the net and learn about a vast array of academic subjects and the wider world. "The internet shortens the distance for communication between people and makes learning more accessible," she said.
