Region welcomes more high-tech enterprises

In recent years, the Jiangbei New Area has focused on high-tech and high-quality in its development.

As of Dec 3, 2018, the total number of high-tech enterprises in the Jiangbei New Area reached 500, up 83 percent year-on-year, creating a record high.

From January to September, the output value of high-tech industries in the new area reached 184.9 billion yuan ($26.8 billion). It is estimated that the annual output value of high-tech industries in the new area will reach 220 billion yuan at the end of this year. High-tech enterprises have become the main support for the development of the regional economy.

Jiangbei New Area's "Gene City" project has successfully built and operated the largest gene sequencing base in Asia, with an annual sequencing capacity of 400,000-500,000 persons, and more than 80 companies from the genetic industry in this area.

At the second International Symposium of Humanized Mouse Models, Gao Xiang, dean of the Nanjing Biomedical Research Institute of Nanjing University, introduced the latest research results about genetically modified mice.

This program has aroused heated discussions and wide acclaim from experts and scholars at home and abroad, and contributed to the development of life science research and industries all around the world, according to its official website.

In terms of talent reserve, the Jiangbei New Area and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics signed a cooperation framework agreement in August.

The signing of the agreement marked the establishment of a strategic and cooperative relationship between the two, encouraging the sharing and interaction of talent, technologies and resources.

Since 2012, the China (Nanjing) Beidou Navigation Satellite Industry Base, one of the four most influential Beidou industry bases in China, has gathered more than 220 companies in the field of satellite application.

In 2017, the base saw its total sales revenue exceed 10 billion yuan, becoming a national base of scientific and technological innovation in the Jiangbei New Area.

The economic development board of the Jiangbei New Area said that it will continue to emancipate the mind and strive to promote innovative and high-quality development.
