Travel: Beijing rolls out winter fun programs

The capital has launched 15 themed tourism packages and dozens of self-drive routes to provide plenty of winter fun for residents and tourists alike. The packages cover activities across a range of interests, including folk customs, winter sports, traditional Chinese medicine, hot springs, shopping and art performances in Beijing. The goal is to encourage people to experience the winter charm of the capital and popularize winter sports ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics, said Wang Yue, deputy head of the Beijing culture and tourism authority. He added that temple visits, museum exhibitions and special park and library events would also be held during Spring Festival (Feb 4-19).
