Baidu top filer for AI-related patents
Internet giant Baidu is the largest patent filer related to artificial intelligence technology in China, with nearly 2,370 applications, while IBM tops the US list, almost doubling the filings of Microsoft and Google, according to a recent report on deep analysis of AI technologies released by the Patent Protection Association of China. To date, more than 76,000 AI-related patent filings are from China, which has enabled the country to become the top filer in the AI technology sector, followed by the United States and Japan, data from the Derwent World Patents Index show.

10 deals signed at tech gala
Ten deals worth more than 1.3 billion yuan ($187.3 million) were signed at a promotional event focusing on commercialization of innovation achievements by local experts in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, on Sunday. The projects will generate at least 6.6 billion yuan in annual output industrial value from related industries, the event's organizers said. More than 60 experts from the host province presented some 700 innovation projects to the audience. More than 600 attendees, including corporate executives, representatives of capital firms and government officials, witnessed the tech gala.

IP service center opens in Kunming
An intellectual property service center dedicated to small and medium-sized businesses was inaugurated in Kunming in mid-November. With the aid of the city's IP administration, the center is expected to advance the construction of the local IP service system. To date, the center has served more than 1,000 small businesses and helped them to apply for more than 3,000 patents. The center said it plans to launch an online service system in the near future.
