Editor's note: This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy.

The Asia-Pacific International Trade Fair was held in Beijing in November 1985, as seen in an item from China Daily. It was the first time China had hosted such an event.

Attended by 26 countries and regions, it was sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
