China Machinery Engineering Corp has implemented corporate social responsibility in several fields through the Pakistan Thar Mining and Power Project:

The project in itself has increased local employment and offers training to Pakistani residents.

CMEC has a total of 3,462 employees for the project, with 71 percent of them from local communities.

CMEC has set up a skills training center in Thar, offering vocational training and teaching basic skills, such as rebar binding, masonry, plastering and driving.

The project has created more than 1,000 jobs and has provided nearly 2,000 employment opportunities.

The company has also built primary and secondary schools in local towns and villages, with another 20-plus schools under construction.

To date, CMEC has provided financial support to a total of 12 Pakistani students in pursuing their master's degree at North China Electric Power University and Liaoning Technical University in China.

CMEC has also launched engineering programs to cultivate more trainees and assistants for the project.

Medical services in local neighborhoods have also been improved by the company and include cooperation with institutions such as the Shahid Afridi Foundation to set up the Indus Hospital in Islamkot.

It has also opened the Marvi Mother and Child Clinic to provide free healthcare for local residents and has donated the first medical bus in Pakistan equipped with X-ray and electrocardiogram machines to provide medical care in the entire Thar area.

Last year, the company collected about 1 million rupees ($7,470) for disaster relief in the Thar area and provided materials and manpower to aid in rebuilding local families. It has also offered donations to local residents, including potable water and tree plantation.
