Tech: Nanochips can detect hazardous food
The Chinese University of Hong Kong has developed a nanochip that can detect hazardous substances in food in 30 seconds. The nanochip can be installed in equipment as small as a cellphone and is expected to come onto the market within a year. Made of high-quality gold or silver nanoparticles, the chip can be easily mass-produced. The chip not only tests hazardous substances in foods, but also tests pesticides and food additives. The scope of test can be expanded to other fields, such as cocaine, heroin and even explosives.
