Young drivers steer to electric options
China's younger people are showing more interest in new energy vehicles, according to a report released on Friday at an awards event held by automotive news website Niuche. The report, based on a survey of 1,836 people born between 1995 and 2005, shows that 77.8 percent of them would buy a new energy vehicle, a figure higher than those born in the 1970s and the 1980s. Almost half of those polled said they would choose plug-in hybrids.
Great Wall, Baidu team up for IoV
China's largest SUV producer Great Wall Motor signed a strategic agreement with domestic leading IT company Baidu Inc on Friday, focusing on internet of vehicles technology. The two sides will cooperate in IoV technology and the fruits of the collaboration will be applied across all models of the carmaker's Haval brand. According to the agreement, Great Wall Motor will use multiple artificial intelligence functions and vehicle-to-home interconnectivity technologies.
Mercedes-Benz's new C-class sedan
Mercedes-Benz launched its new C-class sedan in Sanya, Hainan province on Thursday. It is available in 12 variants, with the price ranging from 315,800 yuan to 486,800 yuan ($45,487 to $70,118). Compared with its predecessor, the new model is equipped with a 64-color lighting system and a configurable omnidirectional intelligent driving assistance system. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 10.25-inch central display screen. The new C-class sedan is also equipped with an updated Mercedes Me interconnected system to provide vehicle control, intelligent navigation, travel advice and other services. Wireless charging, online broadcasting and other Chinese exclusive services and localized applications are meeting the demands of Chinese customers, according to the carmaker.
