City set to host major global tourism forum
Guilin is hosting the 12th UN World Tourism Organization/Pacific Asia Travel Association Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook from Oct 25 to 27. The theme of this year's event is "the future of tourism".
The forum aims to advance tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability in both developed and developing economies.
It serves as a platform for officials and representatives of NGOs, industry practitioners and academics to share their perspectives, research findings and knowledge of best practice.
This year's forum is expected to explore and identify major global trends and issues that will affect the future of tourism development, while offering predictions based on an analysis of trends, issues and challenges, and facilitating exchanges among industry players, policy makers, and academics.
Participants are set to include tourism organizations, administrative officials and researchers.
Topics to be explored during the forum's plenary sessions include: "setting the scene: tourism trends toward 2030"; "human capital development toward 2030"; "the future of China tourism"; "technological frontiers of future tourism"; and "tourism policies and business in the 2030s".
