Swell times for rare antelope on the plateau
An online video has suggested that the population of Tibetan antelopes - one of the most protected animals in China - on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau may now stand at more than 300,000, up drastically from about 60,000 in 2000. According to a white paper released in July, conservation projects on the plateau have achieved positive results in controlling the degradation of the ecosystem and restoring biodiversity. The repopulation of rare and endangered species, such as the antelope, is evidence of the success, it said.
