Beijing releases first round of hukou applications
The first round of 6,019 applicants who are qualified to join Beijing's household registration system, or hukou, was published on Monday to allow public supervision, municipal authorities said. In April, the capital launched a points-based application system for hukou, following three years of assessment and advance research, in response to calls from nonnative residents to stabilize their living conditions. The 124,657 applicants can check the official website to see if they are in the first 6,000-plus. The policy will become an annual procedure, but the scale will change in line with the number of applicants every year.
