Heritage: Technology brings murals home

New technology has allowed more than 80 ancient murals lost overseas to "return" home during an exhibition at the Taiyuan Art Museum in Shanxi province. Using traditional mural techniques, modern materials and high-tech methods, the Liu Haisu College of Art at Jiangsu University of Technology has reproduced several precious ancient murals that are kept overseas in countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the United States, Japan, India, Canada and Russia. For a long time, replication and imitation of the murals was a way of compensating for their loss, and a method of exploring their value.
