Big honor for materials manufacturer
Covestro, one of the largest manufacturers of polymers in the world, was recognized as a Global Compact LEAD company by the UN on Sept 24.
The developer of new materials was honored for its engagement during the UN Global Compact Leaders' Summit 2018.
"We feel very honored to be recognized as one of the LEAD companies," said Markus Steilemann, CEO of Covestro. "By actively engaging in the various platforms of the UN Global Compact, we aim to contribute to positive change in areas where we, as a world leading producer of high performance materials, can have the biggest impact."
Global Compact LEAD is a group of highly engaged companies that have aligned their operations with the UN Global Compact, an initiative that encourages businesses to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies in areas such as human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
This year, Covestro participated in four of the initiative's "action platforms" to advance responsible business activities: sustainable ocean business, reporting on the sustainable development goals, breakthrough innovation and business for humanitarian action.
