Make Northeast a pillar, Xi says

Fostering new growth engines called priority

President Xi Jinping has called for greater efforts to comprehensively revitalize China's rust belt Northeast to make the region a strong pillar for the country's major strategies.

Xi, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remark in Shenyang, Liaoning province, on Friday while chairing a meeting on pushing forward the revitalization of the Northeast.
