Broadcasters urged to boost influence CAO DESHENG

President Xi Jinping has called on China Media Group - the country's largest state broadcaster - and people working in the television industry nationwide to strive for building world-class mainstream media with strong guidance, coverage and influence.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the call in a congratulatory message on the 60th anniversary of China Central Television.

CMG is a new broadcaster made up of CCTV, China National Radio and China Radio International.
