China expressed strong dissatisfaction on Friday after Britain issued its latest six-monthly report on Hong Kong, and urged Britain to "face the truth" and "stop issuing the report".
"It is totally ridiculous and unacceptable for Britain to set itself up as a supervisor and make irresponsible remarks about Hong Kong affairs," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a daily news conference, commenting on the report issued on Thursday.
The policies of "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong" and a high degree of autonomy have been carried out effectively since Hong Kong's return to the motherland in July 1997, Hua said.
