Locals get a festival taste with giant mooncake

The Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner, on Sept 24, when delicious mooncakes will tempt us. Getting into the spirit of the festival, chefs in Xuanwei, Yunnan province, set a new record on Friday for the biggest ham-filled mooncake. Their culinary delight weighed in at 300 kilograms and was 2.68 meters across. The retail value of their treat was estimated at 300,000 yuan ($43,800). However, the cake on display was cut up and slices given free to tourists on Sunday.
