All aboard survive airliner crash in Mexico

By Pan Mengqi | China Daily | Updated: 2018-08-02 07:24

An Aeromexico airliner carrying 103 people from Durango, Mexico, to the country's capital, Mexico City, crashed right after takeoff, but all passengers and crew survived the accident, according to Mexican officials.

The Embraer 190 aircraft hit the ground in a horizontal position, Durango state Governor Jose Aispuro said at a news conference. He said Flight AM2431 was hit by a gust of wind just as it lifted off the tarmac, forcing the pilot to abort takeoff.

Officials said 49 people were hospitalized, most with minor injuries. The pilot, who had spinal damage that required surgery, was the most seriously injured. Some people had burns, said Durango state Health Ministry spokesman Fernando Ros.
