'I thought, wow, the plane is going to crash'

As the son of a People's Liberation Army Air Force pilot, Liang Jiayi used to visit his father at a military camp every summer as a child.

His first memories of flying are images of soldiers training on the field, fighter jets roaring across the sky and energetic pilots returning from the airport at dusk.

Little did he suspect that one day he would get as close to this as his father did.
