Chemical plant explosion in Sichuan leaves 19 dead

An explosion took place at a chemical company in Jiang'an county, Sichuan province on Thursday, killing 19 and injuring 12.

The incident at Yibin Hengda Technology Co happened at around 6:30 pm and its cause is still being investigated, said Liu Ping, head of the general office of the management committee of Yangchun Industrial Park, where the company is located. He commented on Friday.

Although the company is far from his office, Liu heard a huge explosion and felt the shock.
