Hand, foot, mouth disease on rise

More than 6,700 people have been diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease in Beijing in the first half of this year, Beijing Daily reported on Wednesday. As of June 30, a total of 6,732 cases had been reported, up 45.2 percent over the same period last year. Eight people are in critical condition, but no deaths have occurred, according to sources at Beijing's Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
