Court in Guangxi uses video-sharing application to hunt die-hard debtors

By Zhang Li | China Daily | Updated: 2018-06-22 07:26

A district court has posted information on 10 defaulters on court-ordered payments on one of China's most popular video-sharing apps and is offering a reward for information on their whereabouts and property.

The Xingning District People's Court of Nanning, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, posted a 15-second video on Tik Tok, a short video app said to have 150 million users daily. The video shows posters displaying each defaulter's personal information, mug shot and information about their properties already known by court enforcement officers.

It asks the public for tips about the defaulters' whereabouts and hidden properties and offers rewards - a percentage of the ordered payments - for useful tips.
