Society: Zhejiang police to travel to Italy for joint patrols

Seven police officers from Zhejiang province have been conducting joint patrols with their Italian counterparts on the streets of Italy. They are stationed in the country from May 28 to June 17 to help ensure the safety of Chinese people traveling to or living there. The seven, proficient in Italian or English, conduct joint patrols with the Italian police in Rome, Milan, Venice and Prato, and offer advice. The Italian police also set up a hotline in Rome for Chinese citizens. This is the third time that Chinese police will pound the beat in Italy. Driven by a surge in Sino-Italian relations in recent years, both parties reached an agreement in June 2014 to carry out joint patrols in peak tourist seasons.
