Nine dead in Shanxi landslide

A landslide in North China's Shanxi province killed nine people on early Monday morning, local authorities said.

The disaster took place at 4:57 am in Caijiazhuang village, Lishi district, Lyuliang city, according to a release from the city government's information office.

More than 100 firefighters and police officers were dispatched for search and rescue operations. Four large excavators and five ambulances were also brought in, the release said.
