National lottery sales increase
China's lottery sales rose 9.4 percent year-on-year to 104.18 billion yuan ($16.5 billion) in the first quarter of this year, official data showed. Lottery ticket sales in March exceeded 40 billion yuan, up 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Finance. Welfare lottery ticket sales rose 1.8 percent to 52.25 billion yuan, while sports lottery sales increased 18.3 percent to 51.93 billion yuan.
