Ex-publicity head guilty of bribery

A former provincial publicity head pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday to taking bribes and holding a huge amount of property with unidentified sources. Zhang Wenxiong, former head of the Communist Party of China's publicity department in Hunan province, stood trial in Guilin Intermediate People's Court in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Zhang took bribes worth 23.35 million yuan ($3.7 million) directly or through his wife from 2004 to 2016, the court said. Zhang was also unable to explain the sources of family wealth totaling about 51.6 million yuan.
