Douyin's ambitious plan, billions of monthly views, millions of users signal potential of emerging segment
Douyin, a Chinese app that publishes short videos, announced it will go global this year and cover markets like Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
Its investor Jinri Toutiao, a news aggregating app, bought another domestic short video app musical.ly, which mainly covers the United States' market, in November.
