Forty MPs 'ready to oust May'

Forty British members of parliament from Prime Minister Theresa May's Conservative Party have agreed to sign a letter of no-confidence in her, the Sunday Times newspaper reported. That is eight short of the number needed to trigger a party leadership contest, the mechanism through which May could be forced from office and replaced by another Conservative. May has been struggling to maintain her authority over her party since a snap election on June 8 which she called thinking she would win by a wide margin but instead resulted in her losing her parliamentary majority.

Church meets following attack

Hundreds of people gathered in the tiny town of Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday to worship with surviving members of a local church where a shooting rampage left more than two dozen people dead. Members of the First Baptist Church held a church service for the first time since a gunman opened fire inside the small church a week earlier in the worst mass shooting in Texas history.

Iraq

Army helicopter crash kills seven

An Iraqi army helicopter crashed during a routine flight on Sunday, killing all seven people on board, a military statement and Iraqi air force officers said. The Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter went down near the southern province of Kut, the statement said. Two pilots and five army officers were killed, Iraqi air force officers told Reuters. A technical malfunction caused the crash, the military statement said.

Indonesia

Museum removes Hitler display

An Indonesian visual effects museum that encouraged visitors to take selfies with a waxwork of Hitler against a giant image of the Auschwitz extermination camp has removed the exhibit after protests. The De Mata Trick Eye Museum's marketing officer said the statue was removed on Friday night following an Associated Press story highlighting outrage from Jewish and rights groups. The museum, which has waxworks of about 80 famous people, had the Hitler figure on display since 2014.
