President Xi Jinping has called on journalists to better perform their duties in recording the significant times and telling China's stories, and to play a bigger role while the country is on the path toward national rejuvenation.

Xi made the comment on Wednesday - the country's 18th Journalists' Day - in his congratulatory letter on the 80th anniversary of the All-China Journalists' Association. Vice-Premier Liu Yandong read the letter to representatives of the association and winners of this year's China News Award at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People.
