Society: UNESCO names Changsha as creative city

Known for its media development, Changsha in Hunan province has become the first Chinese city to be included in UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. UNESCO's recognition comes after the city was named the "Capital of East Asian Culture" last year. The UNESCO Creative Cities Network, created in 2004, was established to promote cooperation among cities that have made creativity a key part of their sustainable development. It covers seven creative fields, namely crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, music and media Arts.
