China has made remarkable achievements in poverty reduction in recent decades.

Since the country implemented a large-scale campaign against poverty in 1986, an average of 6.4 million people were lifted from poverty each year until 2000, while the figures were 6.7 million from 2001 to 2010, according to the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development.
