Second seed Dimitrij Ovtcharov defeated fellow German Timo Boll 4-2 to claim his first ITTF World Cup title on Sunday, while China's Ma Long bounced back from his semifinal disappointment to beat Frenchman Simon Gauzy 4-2 for bronze.
In the first ever all-German World Cup final since the competition began in 1980, Ovtcharov upset 36-year-old Boll, who earlier saw off world champion Ma, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2.
"I could never have imagined a few years ago that I could win the World Cup," said an elated Ovtcharov.
