SpaceX puts 10 next-generation satellites into orbit

China Daily | Updated: 2017-10-11 07:28

LOS ANGELES - US private spaceflight company SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket on Monday carrying 10 satellites to bolster the global data communications network for Virginia-based company Iridium.

About seven minutes after launch, the tall portion of the Falcon 9, known as the first stage, returned to Earth for an upright landing.

SpaceX has been reusing Falcon 9 first stages and is pursuing fully reusable rockets in an effort to lower the cost of spaceflight.
