Item from Oct 9, 1996, in China Daily: Doctors at the Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital diagnose a patient in Zhejiang province using information received via a computer network. Since the hospital opened the remote diagnosis center, doctors has successfully diagnosed some 300 patients in the Tibet and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions and Henan province.
The rapid growth of the internet has contributed to a flourishing online medical service industry in China. Instead of physically seeing a doctor, patients nowadays can consult doctors online and receive diagnoses and treatment options.
In March 2015, the Ningbo Cloud Hospital in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, began creating a regional medical network for residents that includes the resources of all public hospitals and community clinics in the city. The country's first such platform connects 100 healthcare organizations and 226 doctors and family physicians.
