Item from Sept 13, 1983, in China Daily: The First Automotive Works in Changchun, Jilin province, - founded in 1953 - was the first automotive trial base established in China.

After 30 years of development, the company has become a major State-owned enterprise with 47,000 employees producing 240 vehicles every day.

The first Jiefang commercial truck came off the production line in 1956 and the first Hongqi luxury sedan took to the road in 1958. FAW Group has sold more than 30 million vehicles.
