SHANGHAI - Chinese soccer chiefs have urged clubs to rein in their players after a promising midfielder nicknamed the "Chinese Modric" allegedly smashed his Porsche into several other cars while under the influence of alcohol.

Zhang Xiuwei, a China under-23 international tipped to make the senior side, was arrested following the early-hours incident last week in the northeastern city of Tianjin.
