Landslides kill 68 after heavy rain
At least 68 people, including several soldiers, have been killed in landslides triggered by incessant rains in three hilly districts of southeastern Bangladesh, officials and media reports said. Chunks of mud buried many thatched homes after rains started on Monday across the South Asian country due to a tropical depression. Densely populated Bangladesh is battered by storms, floods and landslides every rainy season.

Professor hurt by explosive device
A professor was injured on Tuesday after opening a concealed explosive device brought to his university office in Seoul, police said. The device was made with explosive powder, batteries and nails that were packed inside a vacuum bottle, and it exploded after the professor opened the bottle inside his office, according to an official from the Seoul Metropolitan Agency. The victim is a professor in the mechanical engineering department at Yonsei University.

Several injured in Munich shooting
Several people, including a police officer, were injured in a shooting on Tuesday at a Munich subway station, police said. They said in a tweet that the policewoman's injuries were serious. The suspect was also injured and is in custody. The shooting occurred during a morning police check at the Unterfoehring subway station, police spokesman Michael Riehlein said. Munich's Merkur newspaper reported that witnesses said the suspect took a police officer's pistol and shot her.

15 missing after building collapses
About 15 people are missing after a seven-story building collapsed in a residential area of Nairobi, rescue services said on Tuesday, and authorities said they had asked its occupants to leave before it came down. An excavator was moving rubble. Officials said the building's occupants had been asked to leave once it developed cracks.

Hundreds get food poisoning
Hundreds fell ill from food poisoning in a camp for displaced people east of the city of Mosul on Monday, and were rushed to nearby hospitals, officials said. People started vomiting and some fainted after eating an iftar meal, breaking the Muslim Ramadan fast, said lawmaker Zahed Khatoun, a member of the Iraqi parliament's committee for displaced people.

Zoo welcomes new baby koala
Australia Zoo, home of the late and world famous crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, unveiled their latest addition on Tuesday, a new baby koala. The koala joey named "Macadamia", was the first joey of the season, and made his debut to a welcoming public at the zoo in Queensland.
