As a founding member of the UN and as one of the five permanent members of the Security Council, China has made unremitting efforts to strengthen the world body.

In a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency, Helen Clark, administrator of the UN Development Program, said that China had achieved a lot in its development. She noted that hundreds of millions of people in China have been lifted out of poverty.
