Item from Oct 18, 1989, in China Daily: The Civil Aviation Administration of China has put 15 new aircraft into service in recent months to meet increasing demand.

China's aviation market has picked up speed in recent years. The number of international air routes from China rose by more than 30 percent last year, according to the World Route Development Forum in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, last month.

Air routes to Europe and North America increased from a mere 15 in 2009 to 235 in 2016, according to the Flight Ascend consultancy.
