Pakistan cites rich field for Chinese businesses
Pakistan offers unique opportunities for Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises, its commerce minister said, citing his country's educated workforce, growing economy, strategic location and enhanced security.
The country has made detailed plans for its armed forces and local law enforcement to better protect Chinese citizens working there, Pakistani Minister of Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan said in an interview on Thursday in Beijing.
"Security is being taken care of at the highest level. We take security very seriously, and want to ensure nothing happens," Dastgir said. More than 13,000 Chinese currently work in Pakistan, a number that is expected to increase as trade ties deepen, according to Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khalid.
