Gezhouba sees surge in contracts

China Gezhouba Group Co Ltd, the construction giant which built the Three Gorges Dam, signed contracts worth 144.7 billion yuan ($22.6 billion) during the first half of the year, officials revealed on Monday.

Of those, 65.9 billion yuan's worth were for overseas projects, a 134 percent rise on foreign deals signed at the same stage last year.

This year's new contracts include a $1 billion sewage plant project in Egypt and a $4.5 billion hydropower station project in Angola.
