Concept GLC Coupe - A Star is Born

Not to be outdone, the Concept GLC Coup has also joined the party in Shanghai, making its global debut to reinforce the importance of the Chinese market and showcasing the future of the Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Heir to the automaker's newly implemented nomenclature, the Concept GLC Coup has been built according to the next generation GLC SUV (formerly known as the GLK). Formerly just a concept sketch, it drove on stage for the first time on Monday in near-production form, boasting a sleek blend of SUV toughness and coup design.

Of particular note were the vehicle's elongated roof line, striking LED headlamps, and wide, 21 inches wheels, which make it both tough yet stylish.

When it comes to performance, Mercedes-Benz has highlighted the vehicle's powerful engine, which is said to generate 270 kW (367 hp) of power, with torque of 520 Nm. Much is also being said about the dynamic performance of its 9G-TRONIC transmission and 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system that make it a vehicle for both the city and the country.

And while the automaker has yet to give a release date, it's safe to say that the sooner it hits the road, the better.
