By Yang Ziman | China Daily | Updated: 2014-09-16 07:02

Applications to exhibit at the 11th China-ASEAN Expo outstripped supply of booths by 30 percent, showing the growing popularity of the expo as an event for strengthening business ties between China and ASEAN members.

A total of 6,009 companies from home and abroad have signed up for the event this year, which will have 4,600 booths. The expo attracted 52 international leaders and 400,000 businessmen as it has grown into an internationally recognized platform of China-ASEAN cooperation.

The expo, which has been held for 10 years in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is themed "the 21 Century Maritime Silk Road" this year.
