Applications rise

The State Intellectual Property Office received 11,243 international patent applications through the Patent Cooperation Treaty in the first six months of this year. The figure was up 20.5 percent from the same period last year. Among the applications 10,283 were filed by Chinese applicants, an increase of 23 percent. Foreign applications came from 20 countries. The United States took the lead with 482 applications, followed by Japan with 94.
